Description

These Asian Korean Beef Bowls are the kind of quick dinner that feels like a takeout treat but comes together easily at home. Tender, savory ground beef is coated in a sweet and garlicky Korean-inspired sauce, then spooned over fluffy rice and finished with green onions and sesame seeds. It is an easy dinner, great for meal prep, packed with bold flavor, and one of my favorite food ideas for busy weeknights, simple dinner ideas, and satisfying easy recipes.


Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

3 cups cooked white rice

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

2 tbsp brown sugar

1 tbsp sesame oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp fresh ginger, minced

1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

2 green onions, thinly sliced

1 tbsp sesame seeds


Instructions

1. Cook the white rice according to package directions and keep it warm.

2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the ground beef until browned and crumbly, about 6 to 8 minutes. Drain excess grease if needed.

3. Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and crushed red pepper flakes.

4. Cook for 2 to 3 more minutes, stirring often, until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the beef.

5. Divide the cooked rice between serving bowls.

6. Spoon the Korean beef mixture over the rice.

7. Top with sliced green onions and sesame seeds, then serve warm.

Notes

Use lean ground beef if you want less grease and a cleaner sauce.

For the best flavor, add the sesame oil near the end so its toasted aroma stays noticeable.
