Ingredients

For the Shrimp:

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup all-purpose flour

½ cup cornstarch

1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon salt

Vegetable oil for frying

For the Creamy Sauce:

½ cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons sour cream

1 tablespoon hot sauce

1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: Rinse and pat shrimp dry, then soak in buttermilk for 15 minutes.
  2. Make the Coating: In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Coat the Shrimp: Remove shrimp from buttermilk, let excess drip off, then coat evenly in the flour mixture. For extra crispiness, repeat the buttermilk dip and flour coating.
  4. Fry the Shrimp: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Make the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, hot sauce, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and lemon juice until smooth.
  6. Serve: Enjoy the crispy Cajun shrimp with the creamy sauce on the side. Garnish with parsley or green onions if desired.
