Ingredients

1 lb sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into 1-inch cubes

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

1. Trim the steak and cut into 1-inch cubes. Pat dry with paper towels.

2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, garlic, ginger, and vinegar.

3. Heat olive oil and butter in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.

4. Sear steak in batches, 1-2 minutes per side, until browned. Remove from skillet.

5. Reduce heat, add the sauce, and simmer until slightly thickened.

6. Return steak to pan and toss to coat in glaze. Cook 1 more minute until glossy and fully coated.

Notes

Patting the steak dry before searing helps achieve a beautiful crust.

For extra heat, add a drizzle of sriracha or more chili flakes to the sauce.
