Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 cup long-grain white rice (uncooked)
1 packet French onion soup mix
2 cups beef broth
1 small onion, chopped
2 tbsp butter
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar and mozzarella blend)
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté onions until softened and caramelized (about 5-7 minutes).
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in the French onion soup mix, beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Mix in the uncooked rice, ensuring it is evenly distributed.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Cover with foil.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
- Remove foil, sprinkle shredded cheese on top, and bake uncovered for another 10 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.
