Ingredients
1 cup hazelnuts
4 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons neutral oil (sunflower or avocado)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread hazelnuts on a baking sheet and roast for 10–12 minutes until golden and fragrant.
2. Let hazelnuts cool slightly, then rub them in a kitchen towel to remove most skins.
3. Add warm hazelnuts to a food processor and blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down as needed.
4. Melt chocolate chips in the microwave or double boiler until smooth.
5. Add melted chocolate, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, salt, and oil to the processor. Blend until smooth and glossy.
6. Adjust sweetness or salt to taste if needed.
7. Transfer spread to a clean glass jar and let cool to room temperature. Seal with lid.
Notes
For a darker chocolate flavor, use 70% chocolate and reduce sugar by 1 tablespoon.
Add a splash of espresso or cinnamon for a unique twist.
