If you need easy recipe ideas, dessert ideas, homemade cookie recipes, chocolate dessert recipes, or fun baking ideas for family gatherings, this is one of those crowd-pleasing treats you will want to make again and again.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract until smooth.

4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until combined.

6. Fold in the chocolate chips, then chill the dough for 20 to 30 minutes for thicker cookies.

7. Scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing the cookies about 2 inches apart.

8. Bake for 8 minutes, then quickly press mini marshmallows onto the tops of the cookies.

9. Return the pan to the oven and bake for 2 to 3 minutes more, until the cookies are set around the edges.

10. Let the cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and dust lightly with powdered sugar.

Notes

Add the marshmallows near the end of baking so they stay soft and puffy instead of melting too much.

For thicker bakery-style cookies, chill the dough before baking and do not overmix once the flour is added.
