Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (for filling)

½ cup brown sugar (for filling)

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for filling)

2 ounces cream cheese (for glaze)

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)

Instructions

1. Cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

2. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture until dough forms.

4. Roll the dough into a ¼-inch thick rectangle on a lightly floured surface.

5. Spread 2 tablespoons softened butter on the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.

6. Roll tightly into a log and freeze for 20–30 minutes.

7. Slice into ½-inch cookies and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment.

8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden.

9. While cookies cool, make the glaze: beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.

10. Drizzle glaze over cooled cookies before serving.

Notes

For cleaner slices, make sure the dough log is well chilled before cutting.

If storing, wait to glaze until right before serving for best texture.
