2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup hot coffee (or hot water)
For the Frosting:
1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup black cocoa powder
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
For the Ganache:
1/2 cup heavy cream
4 oz bittersweet chocolate (chopped)
2 tbsp corn syrup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch round cake pans.
- Sift together flour, cocoa, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients, then add hot coffee. Mix until smooth.
- Divide into pans and bake 28-32 minutes. Cool completely.
