Ingredients
1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
8 ounces lo mein noodles or spaghetti
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon fresh garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1/2 cup green onions, chopped
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
1. Slice beef thinly against the grain and toss with cornstarch. Let sit 10 minutes.
2. Cook noodles per package instructions, then drain and coat lightly with sesame oil.
3. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil and sear beef until browned. Remove and set aside.
4. In the same skillet, sauté garlic and ginger. Add soy sauce and brown sugar. Simmer until bubbly.
5. Add beef and red bell peppers to the sauce and cook for a few minutes until peppers soften.
6. Add noodles and toss everything to coat evenly in sauce.
7. Finish with green onions and serve hot.
Notes
Use fresh noodles if available for better texture.
Flank steak is ideal, but sirloin or even chicken can work as substitutes.
