Description

This Nutella French Toast Casserole is a rich and indulgent breakfast bake featuring soft brioche bread soaked in a creamy vanilla custard, layered with gooey Nutella, and baked to golden perfection. Perfect for brunch, holidays, or a weekend treat, it’s easy to prepare ahead of time and topped with powdered sugar and fresh strawberries.

Ingredients

1 loaf brioche or challah bread, sliced or cubed

1 cup Nutella

4 large eggs

1 1/2 cups whole milk

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Pinch of salt

Powdered sugar, for garnish

Melted chocolate or extra Nutella, for drizzle (optional)

Fresh strawberries, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a baking dish and arrange half of the bread slices or cubes in a single layer.
  2. Spread Nutella over the bread layer, then top with the remaining bread.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread, pressing down lightly to help it absorb.
  5. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes or cover and refrigerate overnight.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 35-40 minutes, until golden brown and set.
  7. Let it cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and drizzling with melted chocolate or extra Nutella.
  8. Serve warm with fresh strawberries and enjoy!
