Ingredients

2 large chicken breasts

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons butter

1 large onion, sliced

1 cup mushrooms, sliced

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups chicken broth

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)

Instructions

1. Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken on both sides until golden, about 5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

3. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced onions and mushrooms until caramelized.

4. Sprinkle flour over the vegetables, stirring constantly for 1 minute.

5. Slowly whisk in chicken broth and simmer until the gravy thickens.

6. Stir in heavy cream for a creamy finish.

7. Return chicken to the pan, smother with the gravy, and simmer for 5–7 minutes until fully cooked.

8. (Optional) Top with shredded cheese, cover, and let melt before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, use boneless chicken thighs instead of breasts.

Add a splash of white wine with the broth for an elegant twist.
