Description

This Better Than KFC Copycat Coleslaw is the kind of easy recipe that instantly makes an ordinary meal feel complete. It is crisp, creamy, sweet, and tangy with that classic finely chopped texture everyone loves. Perfect for quick lunch sides, easy dinner spreads, barbecue plates, picnic food ideas, and make-ahead salad recipes, this homemade coleslaw delivers fresh flavor with simple ingredients and hardly any effort.

Ingredients

8 cups green cabbage, finely chopped

1/4 cup carrot, finely chopped

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup whole milk

1/4 cup buttermilk

2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Finely chop the cabbage and carrot until the pieces are small and uniform for that classic coleslaw texture.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sugar, milk, buttermilk, lemon juice, white vinegar, salt, and black pepper until smooth.

3. Place the chopped cabbage and carrot in a large mixing bowl.

4. Pour the dressing over the vegetables and stir until everything is thoroughly coated.

5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for the best flavor.

6. Stir again before serving and serve cold.

Notes

For the most authentic texture, chop the cabbage very fine instead of leaving it in long shreds.

This coleslaw tastes even better after an overnight chill because the dressing has more time to soak into the vegetables.
