Description

These Deviled Egg Christmas Trees are the kind of festive appetizer that instantly makes a holiday table feel more fun. Creamy deviled egg filling gets piped into little tree shapes, then topped with simple garnishes for a cheerful Christmas look. It is an easy recipe for holiday parties, Christmas brunch, easy appetizers, finger foods, make ahead snacks, and festive food ideas that still taste classic and crowd pleasing.

Ingredients

6 large eggs

3 tablespoons mayonnaise

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 ripe avocado

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/8 teaspoon paprika, plus more for garnish

6 small yellow cherry tomatoes or 6 golden pearl mozzarella balls

1 small piece red bell pepper

Instructions

1. Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, turn off the heat, cover, and let sit for 10 to 12 minutes.

2. Transfer the eggs to an ice bath and cool completely. Peel the eggs and slice them in half lengthwise.

3. Remove the yolks and place them in a bowl. Arrange the egg white halves on a serving platter.

4. Add the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, avocado, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to the yolks.

5. Mash and mix until the filling is very smooth and creamy.

6. Spoon the filling into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.

7. Pipe the filling into each egg white half, swirling upward to create a Christmas tree shape.

8. Top each tree with a yellow cherry tomato or pearl mozzarella ball.

9. Cut tiny stars from the red bell pepper and place one on top of each tree.

10. Lightly dust with extra paprika and chill until ready to serve.

Notes

For the cleanest tree shape, make sure the filling is fully smooth before piping. A small food processor helps a lot.

For the freshest color, pipe and decorate the eggs shortly before serving, especially because avocado can darken over time.
