  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup cold milk (whole, oat, almond, or soy)
  • 1 cup ice
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar syrup
  • whipped cream optional
  • matcha powder for dusting optional

Instructions
 

  • Combine 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup water in a saucepan. Heat and stir until dissolved, then cool.
  • Sift 1 tsp matcha into a bowl. Add 2 tbsp hot water and whisk until smooth and frothy.
  • Fill a glass with ice and pour in 2 tbsp of the brown sugar syrup.
  • Add 3/4 cup cold milk to the glass.
  • Slowly pour the whisked matcha on top for a layered effect.
  • Optional: Top with whipped cream and a dusting of matcha powder.

Notes

Use ceremonial-grade matcha for the brightest flavor and color. Adjust sweetness by varying the syrup amount.
