  • 2 steaks sushi-grade ahi tuna about 6 oz each
  • 3 tablespoons white sesame seeds
  • 3 tablespoons black sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coarse black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon wasabi paste
  • 2 tablespoons pickled ginger or microgreens

Instructions
 

  • Pat the tuna steaks dry and season with salt and black pepper.
  • Press each steak into a mix of white and black sesame seeds, coating all sides.
  • Heat oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  • Sear tuna for 30–45 seconds per side for a golden crust while keeping the center rare.
  • Transfer to a cutting board and slice into ½-inch pieces.
  • Mix soy sauce and wasabi paste; drizzle over tuna or serve on the side.
  • Garnish with pickled ginger or microgreens and serve immediately.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh. If storing, refrigerate for up to 24 hours and serve chilled. Reheating not recommended.
